Practical Test
 
Once the theory test has been passed and you have shown the ability to drive to test standard you can then book your practical test.
 
This test lasts approximately 40 minutes during which:
 
  • your eye sight will be checked by reading a number plate the distance you will need to read is 20.5 metres (67feet) or 20 metres (66feet) on number plates to cars registered after 2001.
  • you will be asked 2 questions on the mechanical aspects of your car
  • assesment of your driving ability.
 
The driving part covers different types of roads, you will also be asked to perform 2 manouvres from the following:
 
  • Reversing round a corner (to left or right)
  • Turn in the road
  • Reverse into a parking bay
  • Parallel park ( reverse behind a parked car)
In addition you may also be asked to do an emergency stop.
